Originally Songshirts as commissioned by Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, this is a chance to see color and detail not available on a t-shirt!

Songprints designed in collaboration with Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch. These are the record covers we imagined would have been on the singles at the beginning of the recording industry. Every detail has been discussed in a deep process involving dozens of iterations and phone calls.

The risoprinted colors are made in a hybrid analog/digital process with machines made in the 90s. The concept is similar to mimeograph and silkscreen. The machine actually burns a ricepaper stencil for the soy oil based ink. Each print is a little different and the registration is a little loose, but the colors look great!
