Giant Woodcuts

19.5"x19.5" hand-carved, hand printed woodblock prints!

Silkscreened backround, woodblock foreground.

First of all, the cover image from Hadestown's Grammy nominated album cover, which I've always wanted to see done large.

And the Grammophone Girl, an image with much detail that needed this larger treatment.

Child Ballads Prints

12.5"x12.5" hand-carved, hand printed linocut block prints!

3 different designs, 3 limited editions of 300 prints each.

The LP-sized linocut prints are done! I'm releasing them in conjunction with the new album "Child Ballads" by Anaïs Mitchell and Jefferson Hamer, featuring their new arrangements of epic old Scottish and English folk ballads.

Pleasures.

Immediate, cathartic actions for the betterment.

A series of 8 hand-carved linocut block prints. Printed from 4"x6" blocks in two colors, on 8"x10" Arches paper.

Each print is a meditation on a different pleasure. The images are meant to bring about more of the activity shown.

They are meant to be nourishing and simple, like visual food.

All are available in the Gallery.

New work for the estate of Allen Ginsberg

I've been asked to do some woodcut interpretations of some iconic photos of Allen. By popular demand, the estate is starting to make some items to sell featuring his imagery. Hopefully I'll get to issue these as woodcut prints.

Grammy Nomination (2011)

I was nominated, along with Anaïs Mitchell and Brian Grunert in the Album Package Design Category for our work on the cover for Anaïs' epic folk opera record, Hadestown.

The art was based around linocuts I made, and the music was phenomenal, with major contributions from Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Greg Brown, and Ani DiFranco.

Also nominated that year were Devendra Banhart (I didn't see him at the ceremony) and the Black Keys, (I met one of them) who won.
